Electricity Bill In Pakistan: New Rates For August 2024
With effect from July 1, 2024, the PML-N-led government has formally approved a staggering increase in the base tariff of electricity, raising the price per unit by up to Rs 7.12. The higher tariffs will apply to electricity customers starting in August 2024, adding to their already heavy financial burden in the face of soaring inflation.
According to a statement from the Finance Division, lifeline customers using up to 50 units per month will now pay Rs7.74 per unit instead of the previous rate of Rs3.95, while those using up to 100 units per month will pay Rs3.95 per unit.

- Following an increase of Rs6.12, users of 401 to 500 units would be charged Rs41.36 per unit. The rate will be Rs42.78 per unit for users of 501 to 600 units, an increase of Rs6.12.
- Customers who use 601 to 700 units will now pay Rs43.92 per unit, while those who use more than 700 units will now pay Rs48.84 per unit, an increase of Rs6.12.
Calculate the Electricity Bill of 301-400 Units for July 2024
The Finance Division has increased the base electricity price by Rs7.02, raising it to Rs39.15 per unit. Therefore, if you use 397 units in July 2024, your electricity cost under the new base tariff will be Rs15,542.55 (397 units * Rs39.15 per unit). Additionally, for consumption between 301 and 400 units, a fixed charge of Rs200 will be imposed. This means that your total bill, including the fixed charges, would amount to Rs15,742.55.
